Tori Amos, whose original name is Myra Ellen Amos, is an American singer-songwriter and a pianist. Tori is also a classically trained musician who has a mezzo-soprano vocal range. She has won the full scholarship to the Peabody Institute, which is at the John Hopkins University, and she won this at the age of five.

When she was 17, she had a lot of demos of her own, and those were the tapes that her father regularly sent out to the various record company and some producers. Later the producer Narada Michael Walden responded to her favorable, and he and Tori did cut some tracks together, but none of them was released. Then Atlantic Records also met to one of her tapes, and when Jason Flom, the A&R man, flew to Baltimore to audition her in the person, the label got convinced, and then it signed her.
