Bjarke Ingels made his official career debut from the year 1998, from which he operated at Rem Koolhaas, working at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, situated in Rotterdam. Back in the year 2001, Bjarke relocated to Copenhagen, intending to set up the architectural practice PLOT alongside OMA colleague Julien de Smedt from Belgium. The syndicate received national and international recognition because of its inventive designs. The two were awarded a Golden Lion Award at the Venice Biennale of Architecture.
